Practicing at home

Any Sensei will tell you practicing at home is important, and I do try.  Today I tried videoing myself doing the Naihanchi Shodan Kata, it taught me two things:

1) Houses aren't made for doing Karate Kata videos (there may be enough room to do it, but you need a heck of a lot of space to make a video head to foot) 😊
2) Ouch I now see more clearly what my Senseis are talking about when they point out the various things that need improving.

The basic bits are there but need refining, lol.  But I am a good few belts away from needing it off to a tee, so there is still time. 😊

My son helps me through many of the drills I need to do, and a big thank you to him.  Both for encouragement and advice. 😊  The punches and blocks I'm not too far off, apart from the Gedan-Uke, I struggle with that one.

The kicks are variable, but I struggle most with the Roundhouse kick (Mawashi Geri) and back kick (Ushiro Geri).  Oh well now I know what I need to improve on 😊.

But however well I do, I need to try to keep improving.  If I keep trying to get better at the basics, the rest will hopefully follow 😊😊
